Blackwork is essentially backstitching done in geometric patterns. It looks incredibly difficult and ornate, but it is surprisingly easy and fast to stitch up. While blackwork is tradtionally done with black threads, I have introduced lots of color and metallic threads to my blackwork patterns - as well as beads and smetimes, jewels. Although my designs use colored or varigated threads, they can certainly be done in black thread - or any other solid color thread - as well. All of these designs are worked on evenweave fabric such as 24 count Lugana.
